Vernadsky church (Church of St. Andrew)
Architecture of Vernadsky church (Church of St. Andrew) is one of the visiting cards of Lviv.

This monument is located in the center of Lviv, and has attracted visitors and tourists which acame also to Euro 2012.

The monastery and the former Bernardine church built in the early beginning of 17 century. Together with the monastic buildings, bell tower (1734g.), gazebo, rotunda (round building, usually topped by a dome) on the columns with graceful capitals (upper part of columns or pilasters), defensive walls, he was destined to open a new page in the history of Lviv's architecture. The church was built from drawings monk Bernard Avelidesa architect Paul Roman, and after his death at 1618g. Construction continued Ambrose Prihilny. Since the church and monastery buildings were standing outside the city, in the early XVII century, they were surrounded by defensive walls and moats.

In style for modesty and simplicity of a two-story church building combines the features of Italian and German Renaissance architecture. Bernardine Church facade consists of multi-temporal parts. The first and second floors are made P. Roman and A. Prihilnym and decorative front (front) - Andreas Bohmer, Wroclaw sculptor. The same Boehmer built 38 - meter high tower of the church, which is the ornament of the monastery ensemble. In the middle of XVII century on the tower set the clock with a bell cast by the wizard Andrew Frank. The facades of the church are decorated with coats of arms of Poland and Lithuania, are decorated with sculptures. Lush baroque interior is decorated with many carved wooden altar, sculpted reliefs and statues of saints made the founders of the Lviv Baroque sculpture Gooder T. and K. Kutshenrayterom. The main altar was created in 1733 years, arches and walls of the church painted by a monk-painter B. Mazurkiewicz and R. artists Bortnitskim, S. Shochinskim, I. Sorochinskij, P. Volyanskaya. Currently, the former Church of the Bernardine runs the Greek Catholic Church St. Andrew, patron saint of Russia.
