Golden Gate - the constructed facility during the Kievan Rus. This is one of the few buildings that extant. Kiev Golden gate included in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Golden Gate was built in 1164 during the reign of Grand Duke of Kyiv Yaroslav the Wise. Cues of the day surrounded by high earthen ramparts with deep ditches on the outside.

Golden Gate at the time were part of the fortifications and served as the main entrance to the city of Kiev. It was a wide arch with a fighting platform above. However, masonry, outdoor winds and precipitation, has continued to deteriorate, causing a constant concern of scientists.

In 1970 it was decided to erect over the ancient ruins of the pavilion, which not only protect them from further destruction, but also recreated the original appearance of the monument. Opening the pavilion- reconstruction "Golden Gate" was timed to celebrate the 1500 anniversary of Kiev in May 1982.

New designs pavilion built over the ancient masonry, which kept fully and independently of it. The main part represents a tower with battlements height of 14 meters. On the external facade of the tower has an additional lip - a small tower. " Fare gate overlaps with one hand lifting a wooden lattice-bound metal, on the other - doors gates performed on the model of the ancient gates, preserved in the monuments of Novgorod and Suzdal. The decoration of the facades used ornaments made of brick, typical of ancient buildings of that period. When reconstruction of the monument re-established adjacent to the tower shaft segments.
